In the Eastern Pacific, (#1) Major Hurricane Blas has winds of 125mph, gusting to 155mph, with a pressure of 956mbars. Movement is West at 12mph. Is expected to maintain major hurricane intensity through tonight then begin to weaken thereafter. Not a threat to land. (#2) Shower and thunderstorm activity has increased since yesterday in association with an area of low pressure located about 500 miles South-Southwest of Manzanillo, Mexico. Continued development of this system is expected, and a tropical depression is likely to form during the next few days while it moves Westward at around 10mph. The National Hurricane Center (NHC) is giving this system a Medium chance, 60%, of becoming a tropical cyclone during the next 48 hours, and a High chance, 90%, of becoming a tropical cyclone during the next 5 days. In the Central Pacific, no development is expected over the next 5 days. In the Western Pacific, (#1) Super Typhoon Nepartak has winds of 175mph, gusting to 210mph, with a pressure of 900mbars. Movement is West-Northwest at 20mph. Is expected to impact Taiwan as a major category 4 or 5 super typhoon by late today/early tomorrow.
