Is expected to continue to affect the Bahamas through tomorrow. A Hurricane Watch is in effect for Bimini and Andros Island. A Hurricane Warning is in effect for the Central Bahamas and the Northwestern Bahamas including the Abacos, Berry Islands, Eleuthera, Grand Bahama Island, and New Providence. A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for the Southeastern Bahamas and Andros Island, but excluding the Turks and Caicos Islands. Will remain a hurricane through Monday morning with potential landfall expected on New Jersey or Long Island by early Tuesday morning as a weakening storm. Whether or not it’s a hurricane at landfall, impacts will be the same: heavy rainfall, flash flooding, high waves/rough seas, rip currents, tropical storm force winds, coastal/inland flooding, and beach erosion. (#2) A broad area of low pressure associated with an old frontal zone is centered over the central Atlantic more than 600 miles Southeast of Bermuda. This system is producing a large area of cloudiness and thunderstorms, and environmental conditions are expected to be conducive for a tropical depression to form by the weekend while the low moves slowly Northwestward to Northward. In the Eastern Pacific, (#1) A large area of showers and thunderstorms associated with a broad area of low pressure is located more than 1000 miles Southwest of the Southern Tip of the Baja California Peninsula. Environmental conditions are gradually becoming more conducive for development, and a tropical depression is likely to form during the next couple of days while the low moves slowly Westward. The National Hurricane Center (NHC) is giving this system a High chance, 70%, of becoming a tropical cyclone during the next 48 hours, and a High chance, 80%, of becoming a tropical cyclone during the next 5 days. In the Central Pacific, no development is expected over the next 5 days. In the Western Pacific, (#1) Tropical Depression Twenty-Two has winds of 35mph, gusting to 45mph, with a pressure of 1008mbars. Movement is West-Northwest at 18mph. Is expected to intensify into a tropical storm by tomorrow as it moves through Northern Luzon and the Philippines. By Saturday, it will be in the South China Sea and is expected to intensify into a category 1 typhoon before it hits Southern China/Northern Vietnam by late weekend/early next week.
