North MS Local Forecast: Good Morning! At Smithville, MS, the current temperature is 54 and it feels like 54. Highs will continue to range between 56 and 63 with lows between 33 and 45. There is a 90% chance of rain today, an 80% chance of showers tomorrow, a 60% chance of AM showers on Wednesday, a 60% chance of showers next Monday, and a 60% chance of showers next Wednesday. At the Regional Rehab Center in Tupelo, MS, the current temperature is 51 and it feels like 51. Todays high is 64 and a low of 53 with a 100% chance of rain. Tuesdays high is 56 with a 60% chance of showers.

Tropical Update: Now, for your tropical update. The 2015 Atlantic and Eastern Pacific Hurricane Seasons have officially ended. Hurricane season runs from June 1st through November 30th. In the Western Pacific, no development is expected over the next 5 days. In the North Indian Ocean (Arabian Sea), no development is expected over the next 5 days. In the North Indian Ocean (Bay of Bengal), no development is expected over the next 5 days. In the Southern Hemisphere (South-West Indian Ocean), no development is expected over the next 5 days. In the Southern Hemisphere (Australian Region), no development is expected over the next 5 days. In the Southern Hemisphere (South Pacific), no development is expected over the next 5 days.

Long Range Outlook: As we head into early December, expect normal to above normal rainfall across the Southeast with a increase in potential for both severe and winter weather. Temperatures will range between normal to slightly below normal.

Weather Word of the Week: Vertical Wind Shear. Is the change in the wind’s direction and speed with height. This is a critical factor in determining whether severe thunderstorms will develop.
